Come as you are. We're casual.Going to church can make some folks anxious. What should I wear? What is their music like? Will we like the preacher? Some people like to wear their “Sunday best.” Others are more casual. You are welcome in whatever you feel is appropriate for church. Wear something you'll be comfortable in while singing praises and learning the Bible – and meeting the God who loves you. What's our music like? The churchy word is “blended.” Any song written in praise of God and telling the story of Jesus is a hymn. Some of the hymns we sing were written a long time ago. Others were written last month. Some have been collected into a book (hymnal) and others haven't made it there yet.Our emphasis is on songs whose lyrics are doctrinally sound, support scripture, have depth and something to say with real meaning. Repetitive choruses devoid of substance are not what we're about. We have a praise team of piano, acoustic guitars, drums, bass, Hammond B3 organ, and a 20 voice (or so) choir. The style is somewhat Americana, pop-rock with country gospel inflections. There is energy, there is joyful praise, and there are worshipful melodies and dynamics giving opportunity for reflection. How about the preacher?Pastor Jason studies the Bible diligently. There's no watered-down, sugar-coated message here - just truth. The God who loves us and gave us His Word wants it taught accurately and Pastor Jason pursues that. He provides observations and analysis of scripture and practical applications to walk away with. In other words: you'll learn not only what the Bible says but how to apply it to your daily life. It's that simple. What time should I come?Sunday school/morning small groups are available for every age and begin at 9:30 a.m. About 10:30 a.m. we begin gathering in the sanctuary for corporate worship which starts at 10:45 a.m. We're usually done around noon. One more thing:Our pastoral staff, deacons, and members stand ready to help you any way we can, love you into our body of believers, and walk alongside you as we all grow in Christ. We can't wait to meet you!
Current SeriesTo the End of the Earth: the Book of Acts"But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth." - Acts 1:8 -As we study the book of Acts together we will retrace our Christian heritage, learn of Christ's fufilled promise, experience the power of the Holy Spirit, and watch the Kingdom of God fanned into flame.Join us Sunday's 10:45 am.

Pastor Jason joined FBC in March of 2010. His passion is teaching the Word of God in a way that relates, encourages, and challenges the hearers. He and his family are dedicated to investing themselves in Elgin and focused on helping FBC become a church that meets and ministers to the many needs of our city and our world.
BeliefsWe stand on the following statements:The Bible as TrueThe Word of God, fully inspired and without error in the original manuscripts, was written under the iinspiration of the Holy Spirit, was faithfully passed down through generations under the superintendence of God, and has supreme authority in all matters of faith and conductGod as TrinityThere is one living and true God, revealing Himself as Father, Son, and Spirit, who are co-equal and co-eternal and author distinct but harmonious effects in creation, providence, and redemption.God the FatherOur Father is an infinite, personal spirit - perfect in holiness, wisdom, power, and love - who works all things according to His will and therefore knows all that shall come to pass. He concerns Himself mercifully in the affairs of men, He hears and answers prayer, and He saves from sin and death all who come to Him through Jesus Christ.Jesus ChristJesus in God's unique Son, fully God and fully human, conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of a virgin, lived a sinless life, performed miracles, and taught us how to live. We affirm as true His atoning death, bodily resurection, ascension into heaven, perpetual intercession for His people, and personal and visible return to earth at the appointed time.
Holy SpiritComing forth from the Father and Son to convict the world of sin, righteousness, and judgment, and to regenerate, sanctify, and empower all who trust Jesus Christ, indwelling them as helper, teacher, and guide, and granting and empowering all types of Biblical gifts for extending the Kingdom of God.MankindWe are created by God in His image and made to be with Him. There was a time that mankind was innocent and free to choose. Mankind chose sin and therefore fell from innocence and was cast from the presence of God. From that time we have been inclined toward sin and, as such, stand under the just judgment of God. But man is precious to God; and by His grace and through the shed blood of His son Jesus Christ, God provided a way for sinful ment to be redeemed.Salvation/GraceWe are saved by the grace of God, from the wrath of God, through faith in Jesus Christ. We cannot save ourselves, but must receive the gift of God and the sacrifice of Christ on our behalf.BaptismWe believe baptism must be post-conversion (for people who have consciously put their faith in Christ Jesus); should be by immersion; precedes church membership; and is a symbol of obedience.TransformationThe expectation that every believer should live for the glory of God and the good of humanity by developing blameless character and conduct, practicing faithful stewardship of possessions, and seeking transformation for others.
PurposeWe exist to make disciples of Jesus Christ. We believe that Discipleship is a process, and therefore our goal is to help people walk through that process. We want all people to believe and trust in Jesus Christ, belong to a small group of loving individuals that are committed to helping them grow in their faith, and personally strive to become more like Jesus by discovering and using their spiritual gifts while focusing on their own spiritual development.
Small GroupsWhen we DO LIFE together, in a small group of friends who help us along the way, we become part of a community of others seeking the same goal: to know God more, learn His will for our lives, and ways to make Him known.Sunday school is a traditional form of a small group that focuses on Biblical and Christian education. Our Sunday school small groups meet Sunday mornings at 9:30. Many people find great connections and form life-long friendships in Sunday school.Others desire an additional group to be part of, or an alternative to that time and traditional format. We offer small groups (also called life groups) which meet primarily on Sunday evenings (beginning Sept. 18) in a relaxed setting in homes throughout the Elgin area in 8-week blocks. The goal is to grow deeper together, share personal stories, look closely at scripture, and work through difficulties while celebrating triumphs of life.Small groups/life groups are a place where Biblical truth is learned together - and where that truth comes alive."No one's story is complete until it has intersected with God's story. That happens best in a community where people are hearing one another's stories." - Brian Daniel and Rick Howerton- To find out more about a Sunday evening small group/life group - and how to get plugged in -
contact Assoc. Pastor Allan Hubbard.- To visit one of our Sunday school/morning groups, just show up prior to 9:30 a.m. on any Sunday and we'll plug you right in! You can get a head start on your options by viewing these pdf files of the groups to choose from:
